The Parent Board

Brian Arganbright has served on the Parent Board at Lexington Montessori since May 2010  and serves as the President. He is an associate professor of French at Transylvania University and holds a Ph.D and an MA in French Literature from New York University. He has lived in Lexington since 2001 and has two daughters who attend Lexington Montessori School. Previous board experience includes a three-year term on the board of Good Foods Market and Cafe. Brian is a returned Peace Corps volunteer who served as an ESL instructor for three years at Safarik University in the former Czechoslovakia. He has also taught for three years at universities in Paris and Lyon France.

Kristie Crowe has served on the Parent Board at Lexington Montessori since February 2012 and currently serves as the Treasurer. In 1996 she graduated from Western Kentucky University with a B.S. in Recombinant Genetics and a minor in Chemistry. She then married and moved to Nashville, TN. She started graduate school at Meharry Medial College in 1998 and completed her Ph.D in Microbiology in 2007 after moving to Lexington, KY. She has two children that attend Lexington Montessori School. She also volunteers in the front office two days a week.

Ralph Whitley is a Lexington native who graduated from the University of Kentucky in May of 2001 with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Physics. He began his consulting engineering career at Technical Horizons and received his Professional Engineering License in 2006, before changing career paths and accepting employment at the Lexington Design/Build firm Green Mechanical Construction Incorporated. In June of 2010, Ralph moved back into the consulting engineering world and joined Shrout Tate Wilson, making partner in January of 2011. He currently serves as the lead Mechanical Engineer for the firm as well as participating in business development and stewardship of the personnel and business aspects of the company. Ralph has an 8 year old and 5 year old daughter that both attend Lexington Montessori School where he serves as a voluntary board member. Ralph has also given back to the community through the “One to One” reading program at William Wells Brown Elementary which helps provide additional reading instruction to elementary students who are falling behind.  He is also an active member in the Lexington Rotary Club. Ralph enjoys playing Golf, Volleyball, Swimming, Weight Training, Camping, and watching College Football. He has been a season ticket holder for the UK Football program since 2001.

Kate Mitzenmacher has served on the Parent Board since 2012 and is a member of the Fundraising Committee.  She currently works in the knowledge management organization for a Big 4 accounting firm. Kate graduated from Tulane University with degrees in accounting and management and is a Certified Public Accountant.  Now back at home in Lexington after living in Atlanta and San Francisco, this former LMS student is thrilled to have her two children in the primary program.

Chris Forsythe Chris Forsythe joined the Parent Board in August 2013 and leads the efforts of the Marketing Committee to share the great story of Montessori education at LMS. His education includes degrees in Biology and Business Management from Birmingham-Southern College located in Birmingham, Alabama. The Forsythes relocated to Lexington in 2010 to be closer to family.  His previous board experience as a Parent Representative at the Child Development Center of the Bluegrass at the University of Kentucky brings valuable experience in the management and complex challenges facing non-profit centers of education. Chris works as the global sales system administrator for a large company in Lexington.  Chris and his wife, Tyler, have two boys enrolled at LMS and are happy to be involved in their education.
